Did you know the difference between the five stages of chronic kidney disease (CKD)?
Each of the stages are determined by the level of creatinine in the patient’s blood and a rise in creatinine level indicates that the kidneys are unsuccessful in filtering waste and excess fluid.
In the early stages (Stages 1-3), symptoms are less common where one might observe swelling in the hands and feet, back pain and urinating more or less than normal. However, in the later stages (Stage 4-5) the kidney function is highly compromised and additional symptoms like itching, trouble sleeping, muscle cramps, feeling sick and throwing up will surface. Going for annual checkups and monitoring your health can help with early detection.
